Share your Story

After you have read “Witnesses to Racism” and are reminded of your experiences of racial injustice, you are invited to write your story and send it to: lprebil@archchicago.org

The people who tell the stories in “Witnesses to Racism” tell it from the vantage point of different ethnicities including African American, Latino, Native American, Japanese and Caucasian. This little book, copyrighted by the Office for Racial Justice and edited by Sr. Lois Prebil, osf, contains eleven heartfelt testimonies by members of the Archdiocese of Chicago – ten laypeople and one permanent deacon – about their own experiences with racial injustice. These inspiring witness talks were initially presented at the Workshops on Racism and Ethnic Sensitivity for parishes in the archdiocese. More->

Month's Featured Resource:

Racial Justice and the Catholic Church by Bryan N. Massingale: Book Cover Racial Justice and the Catholic Church by Bryan N. Massingale

Confronting racism is difficult yet essential work to heal the brokenness in our society and our church. Racial Justice and the Catholic Church examines the presence of racism in this country from its early history through the Civil Rights Movement and the election of Barack Obama. It also explores how Catholic social teaching has been used—and not used—to combat racism and promote reconciliation and justice.
